VISCO Agency

We know how it can be for students, looking for that work experience provider, which allows them to develop skills and expertise to take forward. Over the past twelve weeks, we have had the pleasure of providing the opportunity to ten Leeds Trinity University students, to complete their placement module with us at VISCO Agency.

From April through to June, we had four second-year students and six first-year students, contributing to VISCO Agency. Each person had their own specific role and responsibilities. During the placement series of tasks and projects were assigned to the students to plan their own marketing campaigns, social media content, creative designs and web design implementation.

Second-year Media & Marketing student, Liam Read, acted as our Creative Designer. He had the task of creating a logo for a new client, which is now used within their brand. Ben Gormanley, another second-year student, studying Business & Marketing, started out as our Digital Marketing Executive and is now working with us as our Campaigns Strategist. After Ben’s six week placement, he decided to stay, as he wanted to complete and present his campaign ideas to our client, Jackaboos. Our company director, Thomas Haigh, was thrilled and asked Ben to get the first year students involved with the campaign planning. Friday 28th June was their last day of placement. Ben and three of the first-year students presented their campaign ideas to our Client Jackaboos.

Here at VISCO Agency, we are all about taking the risks with students who demonstrate the potential to develop and progress. Sam Lewis a Journalism student, acted as our Content Editor. She demonstrated the skillset and willingness to grow, which has resulted in us offering her a position as our Content Strategist.

She said: “During these past few weeks, I’ve obtained skills that I wouldn’t have done otherwise. The opportunity VISCO has given me, to have hands-on experience, has really opened my eyes and given me insight into the industry. This in itself is why I decided to continue my journey with them”

I was so pleased to hear Ben wanted to stay with us and continue working on the campaign he initially started. He has the determination and expertise that employers look for in candidates, and for him to work with us on upcoming projects is exciting, to say the least. Once being in the same position myself, I know what it takes to build yourself professionally, in order to gain enough experience to become employable. Taking on students, to help support the workload with VISCO Agency has been challenging, exciting and rewarding because I took a chance with these students and it paid off.” Company Director, Thomas Haigh concluded.
